CHARLOTTE TRAFFIC TICKETS | SPEEDING CITATIONS

MECKLENBURG COUNTY CHARLOTTE TRAFFIC TICKETS

Here in Charlotte, our firm handles all types of traffic offenses in Mecklenburg County. We all know how easy it is to be in a hurry and find yourself being pulled over by the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department or Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Department. We certainly do not intend to break the law, and we may not even realize we are speeding until we see the “blue lights” behind us. Traffic tickets are a big business for Mecklenburg County. Statistics show over a thousand traffic citations are processed every business day at the Mecklenburg County Courthouse. The city wants to make this “easy” and even has a dedicated website that allows offenders to “pay online.” We do NOT recommend you “simply pay the ticket.” By doing so, you will be pleading guilty and will be assessed “points” on your driving record. This approach will cause your automobile liability insurance rates to increase, sometimes dramatically. Nevertheless, people have other demands on their time and cannot take time off from work or school to go to court. That’s where we can help. If you hire our firm, we will go to court and negotiate your ticket for you. We can do everything over the phone and by email. Or, if you prefer, you can meet with us in our Charlotte office and get a personal review of your case and options. In just a few days after getting a traffic ticket, you will receive a significant number of unsolicited letters from lawyers who want you to hire them for your case. Many of those letters will tend to overdramatize the situation and describe dark, dire consequences if you don’t “fight” your ticket. The fees quoted will vary rather dramatically from low to high. It is not necessary to pay a high lawyer fee as this is really just a matter of convenience. It is not advisable to go to the “lowest bidder” either. After all, you do want this matter handled correctly. A bargain is not a bargain if the case is not resolved properly. You could end up paying even more to fix an error. Don’t take chances here. Our firm will not send you an unsolicited letter or try to “scare you” into retaining our services. Here is the simple truth. Unless you have other driving privilege issues, most traffic tickets are just an annoyance and can usually be negotiated by yourself or a lawyer. We will even tell you what “magic” options to seek. To avoid “points” on your license, you can ask the prosecutor on your court date for an “improper equipment (IE)” or a “prayer for judgement continued (PJC).” Of course, if you choose to represent yourself, you will have to take the morning or afternoon off, deal with Charlotte downtown traffic, find a parking space in a garage nearby, and wait in line for your turn. Or, you can hire our firm, and we take care of everything for you. We are not the most expensive or the cheapest Charlotte traffic ticket firm, but we are competitive and will do our best for you to get it right. We do not engage in expensive direct mail campaigns or pay-per-click ads. Instead, we market our services only through organic search results. As a result, our costs are reduced, and we can be more competitive in our pricing structure.

SPEEDING TICKETS

Speeding tickets are the most common traffic citation issued in Charlotte. With school and work zones, the lawful speed limit can change quickly. If you are not paying close attention, you can find yourself “speeding” even though you never alter how fast you are going on the road. Fortunately, speeding citations are also the easiest to resolve. If you have an otherwise “clean” driving record, you should qualify for an “improper equipment (IE).” You will need to email a copy of your driving record to us, or we can obtain one for a nominal fee. An IE simply means that your speeding ticket will be dismissed, and no points will be assessed to your driving record. No points means your insurance rates should remain unaffected. There will still be court costs and a fine, but no increase in auto rates. Let’s face it. This is why people call lawyers in the first place to try to reduce or eliminate those points and not pay higher insurance premiums. If you hire us, we will do our best for you so that you will recommend us to friends and family. Of course, we cannot guarantee any specific outcome, and each case will turn on individual facts and your driving history. But in most cases, we will be able to make a difference for you. Regardless, it is worth hiring an attorney just to avoid the hassle of having to drive, park, and then wait in line to try to reduce a ticket on your own. Instead, let us take care of it for you. It’s what we do.

DRIVING WHILE LICENSE REVOKED

Driving While License Revoked or DWLR results from when a defendant has a suspended license or driving privileges in North Carolina. At Robert J. Reeves P.C. we actively engage in “license restoration” for our clients. We work to clear up Failure to Appears (FTA) or even Order’s for Arrest (OFA) which may be suspending a client’s license. In addition, we determine a plan of action in order for you to pay old fines in other states or counties. We have helped many people clear up their driving records, we’ve even had cases over 20 years old dating back to the 1980s! Please take a look at our testimonials page.

FAILURE TO APPEAR

A failure to appear (FTA) results when a defendant misses his/her court date. After missing court, the defendant will have their driver’s license or driving privileges suspended in North Carolina. This can begin a “snowball effect” because if you are caught driving while your driver’s license is suspended, you can face a class 2 Misdemeanor that could suspend your license for even longer. If you hire our firm, we will act fast to remove any Failure to Appears you may have for missing court in Mecklenburg County.

ORDER FOR ARREST

Along with a Failure to Appear, a judge will also issue an Order for Arrest (OFA). In most cases, an OFA is much more serious that the original ticket or citation. If subsequently stopped for any reason, the officer will see this pending arrest Order and place you in custody. You will taken to jail, processes, and have to have a bond hearing to get out. Clearing an OFA is a priority one matter, and we will put your case on the fast track. We will file the necessary Motions and ask a judge to rescind the OFA. This way, you can be assured you can drive without the fear of being stopped and placed in handcuffs.

NC DMV HEARINGS
