Charlotte Mecklenburg Police officers handed 58 citations out Thursday night during a seatbelt operation in northeast Charlotte.
The initiative was set up on the Plaza at Milton Road from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m.
10 officers manned the station as 29 road users were cited for not wearing a seatbelt, six for having improper license plate tags, seven for not having a proper driver’s license and four for driving with a revoked license.
Recent studies reveal that in 2010, the use of seat belts in passenger vehicles saved an estimated 12,546 lives. It’s the law for a reason—wearing proper restraints while riding or driving in a motor-vehicle saves lives.
