A Charlotte woman is dead after an early morning crash near Freedom Drive on Sunday.
According to Charlotte Mecklenburg Police, the 36-year-old woman was driving a Nissan Maxima at around 3:45 a.m. on Edgewood Road when she veered to the right, running into the curb, then over-corrected causing the car to run off the left side of the road.
The car came to a stop by hitting a tree head-on, crushing the front end of the car.
The woman, not wearing a seatbelt, died from her injuries about an hour after the crash at Carolinas Medical Center.
Luckily, no one else was injured in the crash. Police are continuing investigations into the cause of the crash.
