A Charlotte man is dead after an accident on Interstate 85 that caused major delays Friday afternoon.
The accident happened around 3 p.m. on I-85 south after a Ford truck driven by a 71-year-old Charlotte man struck a yellow work truck from behind causing the Ford to leave the roadway, strike a guardrail, drive across the interstate and roll over into a concrete median before coming to a halt.
Two people were transported to area hospitals after the crash. The 71-year-old driver of the truck died at the hospital of injuries sustained in the crash.
According to officials, speed was a factor in the crash. The results of a toxicology report are pending.
It is a sad fact, but there’s no doubting its truth. As we age, our ability to drive changes, and therefore, the risk of being injured or killed in a motor-vehicle crash increases. On average, 500 older adults are injured every day in a crash in the U.S. If you or an older adult you know has been injured in a serious accident, you need to call the Accident Attorneys of Reeves, Aiken, and Hightower at 704-499-9000 or 877-374-5999 toll-free.
