Traffic was brought to a standstill after a multi-car wreck in south Charlotte Friday morning.
The accident happened around 6:15 a.m. on Interstate 77 southbound at Arrowood Road and involved four cars.
Although details are still forthcoming, one person was transported to an area hospital with potentially life-threatening injuries.
The cause of the crash remains unclear.
According to studies conducted in 2007, the fewest number of deaths resulting from traffic crashes occur early in the morning. That’s because these hours see significantly less traffic. However, accidents still happen and just because it is early in the morning, doesn’t mean drivers do not need to practice safe driving techniques.
