A 62-year-old grandfather was declared dead on Wednesday night after a brutal single-car accident that took his life.
It was around 6:30 p.m., when the grandfather was driving his 2001 Mercury Sable westbound on Constitution Blvd in Rock Hill, when he crossed over the double yellow line.
He was subsequently in the eastbound lanes in the wrong side of the road, made it all the way across without hitting any other vehicle and unfortunately, slammed into a tree.
His 9 year-old-granddaughter was in the backseat of the car, wearing her set-belt but still suffered some minor injuries. She and her deceased grandfather were rushed to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, where the man was pronounced dead, and the little girl is expected to make a full recovery.
The accident is still currently under investigation however, and the York County Coroner has not officially released the exact cause of death.
