Last Thursday was dangerous for one Rock Hill pedestrian when she was walking along side Cherry Road when she was struck by a vehicle.
The woman works at the Waffle House in Rock Hill, however she was at the entrance of the Kangaroo Express when she was hit by the car; she was stopping by the gas station before her morning shift she reported.
The victim stated that she was hit by a Chevrolet Tahoe in her stomach and on the left side of her body. The SUV driver apparently stopped to apologize and state that he did not see the pedestrian, but he then fled the scene before the police arrived.
The victim was taken to Piedmont Medical Center. The driver has not yet been found.
If you are a pedestrian traveler, be sure stay visible to drivers by wearing bight and/or reflective clothing and carrying a flashlight. Walk and stand clear of buses, hedges, parked vehicles, and other hazards before crossing. Always walk on the sidewalk or on the road facing traffic if there is no sidewalk. If possible, cross streets at marked crosswalks and intersections and make eye contact with drivers you cross in front of. When crossing, look left, right, and then left again before crossing the street.
