On October 25th, a family was left with the feeling of emptiness and despair, when their loved one was killed by a hit-and-run driver in South Carolina.
Accordingly, around 7:00 a.m. that Wednesday morning, the victim was crossing Calhoun Street, towards Toumey Hospital in Sumter, South Carolina, when she was hit by a driver who then just kept going. The 70-year-old victim was visiting her friend at the hospital after a surgery, when she was hit by the phantom driver.
The victim was rushed inside the hospital, and the doctors reported to of done everything they could yet it was no use, the victim has died.
The victim was survived by her husband of 39 years, who states that ” it’s a tremendous void not to have her here.” Additionally, she left behind a son, daughter, two grandchildren, and another on the way.
Police are working diligently to put together a sketch of the believed hit-and-run driver to hopefully give the family some answers. It is believed that the defendant driver was a young female, with dark-colored hair and driving a newer model vehicle. The “get-away” car would likely have serious damage to the front and side.
The family is begging that someone in the community see the new sketch and come forward with some information to put their loved one to rest peacefully.
The Police believe that the driver is a frequent commuter of that area and ask that is anyone can help,to call Crimestoppers at 1-8-Crime-SC.
Loosing a loved one is always heart wrenching, however most times the loved one has died at a older age and ” of natural causes.” When a loved one dies before their time is up, it leaves the family feeling angry and confused, not knowing where or who to turn to next.
