Several youths suffered potentially serious injuries after being involved in a southeast Charlotte wreck Thursday morning.

The crash took place around 7:15 a.m. and involved a young woman and two young men from Myers Park High School at the intersection of North Sharon Amity and Castleton Roads in the Cotswald neighborhood.

Charlotte Mecklenburg Police had to free one motorist who was trapped in a vehicle during the wreck.

One victim was transported to Carolinas Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.  A second victim suffered less serious injuries.

Crews worked to clear the scene for nearly two hours, re-opening Sharon Amity around 9:30 a.m.

The cause of the wreck is still unclear.

Studies reveal that traffic accident rates for people ages 16 to 19-years-old are the highest out of any other age group of drivers.  It’s clear that youths, through no fault of their own, are the least experienced on the road.  That’s why it’s important that parents and mentors take the time to warn youths of the dangers of risky driving and the importance of practicing safe driving techniques.  If your teen has been involved in a serious accident, you need an accomplished and trusted attorney on your side.  Call the Accident Attorneys of Reeves, Aiken, and Hightower at 704-499-9000 or 877-374-5999 toll-free.
