An airplane pilot wrecked not his plane, but an airport car in Anderson, South Carolina last week in an accident involving a tractor-trailer. Not an airline pilot, he apparently was flying a private jet.
The car belonged to the Anderson County Regional Airport and existed for the use of individuals, like this airplane pilot, who fly into the airport. The South Carolina Highway Patrol has not provided much information about the accident.
The collision happened on S.C. 28 Bypass near the Sonic Drive-In in Anderson. The pilot hit the rear of a tractor-trailer truck, which had stopped due to a fender-bender in front of it. There is no indication that the truck driver was injured in the accident. Neither were the pilot nor his two children, who were sitting in the back seat. The pilot’s wife, sitting in the passenger seat, required an X-ray to disprove injury.
The wreck will not deprive the airport of a car. A second car will be available, and insurance will replace the wrecked auto soon.

A single car accident took place this past Sunday, claiming the life of a Third Infantry Division Soldier.
Spc. Nolan W. Mincey, 22, of St. George, S.C., was assigned to the 1st Heavy Brigade Combat Team, 3rd ID, as a combat engineer. He had been a member of the Army since October 2008, and arrived at Fort Stewart in 2011 where he stayed until this fatality. He was lucky enough to only have one deployment, and was subsequently awarded the Combat Action Badge.
The collision occurred on Friendship Road near St. George, where Mincey’s car somehow lost control and drove off the road, only to strike a tree around 6:10 p.m. The details of the Soldier’s cause of death, and what if any where the contributing factors is still a mystery.
Thus, the accident is under investigation.

A serious accident on US Route 17 in Horry County, SC caused serious traffic in the Little River area, as the accident was blocking traffic northbound on the Intracoastal Waterway Bridge.
According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the collision occurred on or about 4:15 p.m. on Highway 17 Northbound, where US-17 crosses over Highway 90, on near interstate grade road. At this time, there has been no release as to the amount of people involved in the collision, the number of cars, or the amounts and severity of any injuries that may have occurred.
The North Myrtle Beach Department of Public Safety did however issue a NIXLE warning to all other motorists and pedestrians alike stating that the roadway was currently blocked in the northbound lanes, as the crews frantically worked together to clear the scene of the “serious accident.”

A man has been hospitalized after crashing his truck at the Scaleybark light rail station in South Charlotte, according to the CMPD. The man has suffered injuries, however they are not life-threatening.
The accident report states that the accident occurred around 2:00 a.m. early Saturday morning, when the man somehow lost control of his vehicle and crashed it somewhere in the vicinity of the light rail. The impact caused the car to spin, ending up on the tracks of the light rail. Fortunately for other drivers, his car was the only vehicle involved in the accident.
In an unfortunate turn of events, after the collision with the light rail gate, the driver had to be cut from the car and rushed to the hospital. Police were subsequently forced to shut down a section of the road in both directions for a few hours while CATS made repairs.
Accordingly the police currently believe that both speed and alcohol played a role in the crash. The driver is expected to survive.
