The parents of a deceased Charlotte man are suing the police department after their son died from being shocked by a Taser last year.
In the suit, Charlotte police are accused of using excessive, deadly force when shocking the 21-year-old man twice in July 2011.
Parents of the boy say he was shocked during an altercation between him and his girlfriend at the light rail station.

A Myers Park High School student is dead after tragically being hit and killed while riding his bike to school Tuesday morning.
According to Charlotte Mecklenburg Police, the 14-year-old freshman was riding on the sidewalk when he lost control from swerving to avoid trashcans.
He was struck just before 7 a.m. on his morning ride to school by a US Foods Truck in the 2100 block of Sharon Lane near Providence road.
The young man was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident and died on the scene.
Friends and family visited the scene of the crash, leaving flowers and notes.
No charges are being filed against the truck driver.

A woman is dead after being struck by an SUV while crossing the street early Wednesday morning in Charlotte.
It happened near the 8100 block of University City Boulevard around 1:30 a.m., according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police.
Investigators closed University City Blvd eastbound from Chancellor Park Drive to Shopping Center Drive until 4:30 a.m. as CMPD’s Major Crash Investigation Unit processed the scene.
Police say the victim appeared to be a woman on her way home from work. The driver of the SUV that hit her will not be facing charges since he was not speeding and was going through a green light at the time of the fatal crash.

An emergency personnel worker is awaiting his day in court after being charged in a deadly ambulance wreck that killed a co-worker in September.
The man was charged with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle at the time of the deadly wreck that happened in front of Carolinas Medical Center.
The man was charged for pulling out in front of a tractor-trailer on U.S. 74, killing his co-worker passenger.
The driver of both the ambulance and the tractor-trailer fortunately did not suffer any serious injuries.
Emergency personnel gathered around to pray before the passenger’s body was taken from the scene.
The male driver was scheduled to have his case tried on Thursday morning; however, the case was continued until February.

A Charlotte man is facing charges of DWI after hitting and killing a pedestrian early Friday morning on Prosperity Church Road in northeast Charlotte.
The crash happened around 3:45 a.m., between Loganville Drive and Pantherville Drive when the man hit and killed a pedestrian that was walking his dog.
Police say the pedestrian died a few moments after the incident. His dog was taken to Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Animal Care and Control Bureau for treatment for a broken hind leg.
The driver exhibited signs of impairment and was arrested on the scene and charged with DWI. Additional charges may be pending.

A Charlotte teen is dead after a dangerous wreck in Rowan County Sunday Morning.
According to authorities, the single vehicle accident happened around 9 a.m. on Goodnight Road after the 14-year-old driver exceeded the speed limit and struck a tree.
The driver died on the scene.
North Carolina Highway Patrol are continuing an investigation into the crash; however, authorities did say that charges are pending.
