Emergency personnel rushed to the scene of a violent crash between a CATS bus and a tractor-trailer Monday afternoon.
The crash occurred at approximately 3:30 p.m. at the intersection of Tyvola Centre Driver and West Tyvola Road when the bus and the tractor-trailer collided causing the CATS bus to turn over on its side.
According to Medics, nine people were rushed to area hospitals, including the bus driver.
A spokesperson for CATS says that the bus was making a routine stop when it was hit in the rear by the tractor-trailer. At the time of the crash the bus had 11 passengers.
Charlotte Mecklenburg police on the scene had to shut down all inbound and outbound lanes on Tyvola Road for several hours while conducting an investigation of the crash. The road was reopened around 8 p.m.
No charges have been filed as of yet.
