A driver is facing possible charges after a crash with a moped along Park Road that left one man dead.
Authorities say that the driver of the Moped was headed inbound from the 3400 block of Park Road at approximately 7 p.m. when a Honda CRV pulled out in front of him while attempting to make a right hand turn. The driver of the moped slammed on his brakes and laid the scooter on its side along the roadway.
The moped crashed into the rear of the Honda and hit another nearby car.
Although first responders rushed to the scene, they were unable to save the victim. The driver of the Honda was charged with misdemeanor death by vehicle as well as failure to yield.
The driver of the other vehicle involved was not charged. The road was shut down for several hours late Wednesday night while investigators conducted an investigation and cleared the scene.
Mopeds and scooters may be fun to ride, and an escape from the every day confines of the car; however, when it comes to traffic collisions, not much stands between a moped driver and the road.
