Charlotte Mecklenburg Police are reaching out to the public for help as they try to find a hit-and-run driver who injured a motorcyclist last Sunday.
According to police, the 37-year-old biker was seriously injured after he swerved to avoid hitting a green, four-door Mercedes Benz sedan on South Tryon Road near Sandy Porter Road.
The motorcyclist was rushed to Carolinas Medical Center.
Police believe the motorist should have damage to the left rear corner of the vehicle.
Studies reveal that motocyclists are 35 times more likely to experience a fatal accident on the road than road users in passenger cars. And in 2006, 88,000 motorcyclists were injured in highway accidents. There is no doubt that hitting the road on two wheels presents a whole new set of risks for motorists. So it’s important for all road users to share the road and motorcyclists practice safe riding techniques.
