At least two were critically injured in a violent crash in north Charlotte Monday afternoon.
The crash happened around 4:15 p.m. on Statesville Avenue at the I-85 Service Road when a vehicle flipped, trapping at least one person inside. Over a dozen firefighters were working for 15 minutes to extract the person from the car.
Both people involved in the crash are suffering from serious injuries and were transported to Presbyterian Hospital.
The peak hour motor vehicle crashes occur in Charlotte is between 4 and 5 p.m. Rush hour traffic presents a unique mix of problems since many drivers are leaving from work fatigued, stressed and ready to get home. To make matters even worse, there are a lot more drivers on the road. So it’s not surprising that rush hour accidents occur more frequently. If you are driving in rush hour traffic, stay alert and aware of what is happening around you and ahead of you. Try leaving early for your destination so that you wont feel as if you have to hurry. If you know you will be in traffic for a while, find an enjoyable radio station or book on tape to ease the stress of traffic.
