Highway work crews were busy on Friday afternoon after a violent accident occcured on Interstate 77. The highway crews worked to clear debris from the Interstate after a vehicle accident.
The accident occurred around 3:11 p.m. at the intersection of Interstate 77 and the Brookshire Freeway. The NC Department of Transportation expects delays and to use caution when traveling through the area. Traffic was backed up almost 9 miles to Interstate 485 near the border of North and South Carolina.

One person received injuries in a crash that occurred in northeast Charlotte at 2 a.m. Saturday. The crash occurred near the intersection of Rocky River Road and Hood Road.
According to officers, they were involved in a high-speed chase with the driver, whom sustained the injuries. The car flipped several times after the driver lost control and he was taken to Carolina Medical Center for his injuries.
Officers have not revealed why they were originally chasing the man, but officers have revealed they will charge the man after his release from the hospital for his injuries. An accident in Gaston County turned fatal this weekend. A collision between an SUV and a passenger car has taken the life of one person.
According to authorities, the accident occurred at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday afternoon as the two drivers were traveling on Highway 321 near Community Road. A body was found under the SUV when authorities reached the scene.
The driver of the passenger car was outside of his car when the SUV struck him. The passengers in the SUV were unharmed, but the driver of the passenger car died at the scene despite persistent efforts by rescue personnel to save him. Northbound York Highway was closed for an hour which caused extensive delays in the area.

A devastating car crash occurred Wednesday on the Inner Loop of Interstate 485 around Providence Road.
According to a report, an automobile apparently slammed into the back of a motor home traveling on the interstate. When the automobile hit the motor home, the front of the vehicle buckled, trapping the occupants inside the vehicle.

Authorities closed down a section of I-85 Northbound on Friday evening due to a car accident. The crash occurred around 4:00 p.m. at the Mallard Creek Church Road exit.
The N.C. Highway Patrol is saying the damage and injuries are serious. Officers stated that a motorcycle apparently rammed the back of a passenger car after the passenger car stopped to avoid colliding with slower traffic. Authorities are estimating the impact was so violent that it potentially forced the passenger car into another truck on the interstate.
