A Rock Hill resident has just been arrested for slamming his car into a 66-year-old woman’s vehicle, and then right into a building, causing over $10,000 worth of damages to the building alone.
The Rock Hill Police Department reported that the 51-year-old defendant was extremely intoxicated at the time of incident. His BAC level was almost three times the legal limit at an astonishing 0.21.
Apparently the defendant was driving near East Main Street and Firetower Road around 3:00 p.m., when the defendant lost control of his black work van, and barrelled into an elderly woman’s car. The man then kept driving after impact, only to slam into The Resident Services Building on East Main.
The Resident Services building has serious damage, and the defendant’s van blew a tire during the collision.
He tried to leave the scene of the accident, when the police finally caught up with him. The defendant immediately exercised his right to refuse the field sobriety tests the officers attempted to administer, but then later blew a .021 in the breathalyzer at the station.
The legal limit in South Carolina is .08, nearly three times less then what the defendant was driving with. He even reported to the police that he had 12 beers at lunch, along with “a bunch of chicken wings.”
His has thus been charged with driving while intoxicated, and leaving the scene of an accident. Moreover, he caused a total of $12,000 worth of damages by the time the day was over.

A woman from Rock Hill was found in her car by witnesses who say she was trying to spray herself in the face with Ultra Duster, an over-the-counter computer cleaning spray that some people use for huffing purposes. The woman claimed that she was blowing the dust cleaner in her face because she claimed to be hot and hypoglycemic.
A witness reports that she viewed a 50-year-old woman sitting in a sports utility vehicle about ten feet from an intersection near the Wal-mart. She had her hazard lights flashing, and was forcing cars to move around her. Further, according to the police report, the witness returned with her boyfriend just a while later to see the car parked in a driveway nearby.
When the couple approached the vehicle, they report that the woman was “rolling her head” holding a can of Ultra Duster upside down as she attempted to spray it into her face. The witnesses thereafter called the police; they report that while they were waiting a person drove by and stated that the woman “huffs a lot of paint.”
When officials arrived at the scene, the woman reported to deputies that she was “hot and dizzy.” The woman also told the police that she blew the spray in her own face because her car was low on gas, and she did not want to use the air conditioning. She also stated that she sprayed the can to calm down, and that she suffers from hypoglycemia and depression. However, no snacks were present in the car to indicate attempts to recover from decreases in blood sugar.
The confused woman was charged with unlawful use of aromatic hydrocarbons after two cans of Ultra Duster were found discarded. The woman also faces littering charges. When the woman’s husband arrived, he informed police that the wife had problems with inhalants in the past. Further, court records indicate that two counts of unlawful use of aromatic hydrocarbons were dismissed against the woman three weeks ago.

A 20-ear-old Sumter resident is currently being accused of setting a fire to the home he was living in, that resulted in the death of his grandparents.
Authorities report that the grandchild was arrested this past Sunday, after a vicious car chase through the states of Kentucky and Ohio. Apparently the defendant had recently moved from Kentucky to live with his grandparents just a few weeks prior to the incident. There was a previous report initially filed when the defendant had allegedly attacked his elderly grandmother, yet no subsequent charges were filed.
The grandparents were in negotiations with other family members from Kentucky attempting to have the grandson sent back to that state and out of South Carolina.
Then, on Saturday night, firefighters responded to an emergency call reported a fire in the Sumter area. When the firefighters arrived shortly after, they found the bodies of the boys grandparents inside.
Both the 79-year-old grandmother and the 68-year-old grandfather were pronounced dead on the scene.
The boy is currently being charged with two counts of murder, and one count of arson.
No other details are currently available at this time.

A South Carolina State Representative has been arrested for a DUI charge not quite a year after a previous charge of DUI was issued to him. The man was arrested on the grounds of the South Carolina State House, according to police reports. Further, it was reported that the man was brought into jail around 1:00 a.m. He was picked up earlier in the night when officers saw him stumbling around the House grounds, and thereafter they followed him to his car, which was parked in the state House garage. When the man began to drive, he couldn’t drive a straight line and struck a cone while in the garage. When the officer approached the car, the man allegedly smelled of alcohol; and, when he was asked to perform field sobriety tests, he is reported to have declined to comply.
This is not the first time the Representative has been in hot water with regards to driving under the influence of alcohol. In May of last year, he was pulled over and arrested for drunk driving, speeding, and illegal possession of a pistol. Further, a 21-year-old female was in his car at the time of arrest; however, he and the young student stated that he had only met her at a local bar and was “giving her a ride home.” While the DUI charge was eventually dropped, this did not occur before he was forced to drop out of the Democratic primary in order to spend time with his family, and confer with his pastor.

A man, who told police that he was home from college, spent the evening in jail after authorities found several knives, brass knuckles, and a machete in his car. This incident occurred around 10:00 a.m., when police stopped a silver Honda Civic on Dave Lyle Boulevard after it ran off the road and struck a tree. The 19-year-old driver attempted to reach the drivers door pocket before police ordered him out of the car. He was then detained in handcuffs, and when police explored the vehicle, they noticed the smell of marijuana.
The young man told police that there was a marijuana pipe and a grinder in the car; and further, after searching the car, they also located three types of knives, a package of rolling papers, five pieces of chemistry glassware with a makeshift hose and Keck clips in the truck, a set of brass knuckles and a marijuana smoking device. A 10-inch machete was also found in the trunk, according to the report.
The 19-year-old told the officers that he used the glassware to make a Hookah for marijuana smoking use, and he said that the weapons were in the car because he recently returned home from college in Charleston, and he always keeps weapons in his car while in Charleston. He is being charged with simple possession of marijuana, and unlawfully carrying weapons.
