The driver of a box truck is fortunate after escaping potentially serious injuries when his truck crashed and overturned on Interstate 85 Thursday morning.
The crash happened in the southbound lanes of I-85 just before 8 a.m., according to members of North Carolina Highway Patrol.
The truck flipped onto the driver’s side, temporarily trapping the driver.
Rescue crews arrived on the scene just as the man was able to climb from the cab of the vehicle. He appeared to have injuries from the crash, but was lucky to be treated on the scene.
The crash briefly brought morning traffic to a halt while crews worked to clear the scene and remove the truck from the roadway; however, all lanes were reopened by noon.

Crews were working to clear a nasty scene after a tractor-trailer hauling frozen chicken overturned on the Innerloop of Interstate 485 to the on ramp of Interstate 77 northbound Thursday.
The accident happened early Thursday morning around 5:30 a.m. in the Northlake area of Charlotte.
The ramp was closed for hours while crews worked to clear the wreckage.
Authorities have not yet disclosed the number of injuries.

Two people are suffering from serious injuries after being hit by a car Monday night in Huntersville.
According to paramedics, they responded to the scene of the collision around 9 p.m. on the 14600 block of Statesville Road.
Two pedestrians were attempting to cross the road when both were struck.
The two were rushed to Carolinas Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.
Police have not yet released more details on the collision.

A woman is dead after being struck by an SUV while crossing the street early Wednesday morning in Charlotte.
It happened near the 8100 block of University City Boulevard around 1:30 a.m., according to
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police.
Investigators closed University City Blvd eastbound from Chancellor Park Drive to Shopping Center Drive until 4:30 a.m. as CMPD’s Major Crash Investigation Unit processed the scene.
Police say the victim appeared to be a woman on her way home from work. The driver of the SUV that hit her will not be facing charges since he was not speeding and was going through a green light at the time of the fatal crash.

An emergency personnel worker is awaiting his day in court after being charged in a deadly ambulance wreck that killed a co-worker in September.
The man was charged with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle at the time of the deadly wreck that happened in front of Carolinas Medical Center.
The man was charged for pulling out in front of a tractor-trailer on U.S. 74, killing his co-worker passenger.
The driver of both the ambulance and the tractor-trailer fortunately did not suffer any serious injuries.
Emergency personnel gathered around to pray before the passenger’s body was taken from the scene.
The male driver was scheduled to have his case tried on Thursday morning; however, the case was continued until February.

A 47-year-old Concord man is dead after crashing into a building while driving to pick up his son from Rocky River Golf Club
in Concord Saturday afternoon.
The accident happened just after 3:30 p.m., when the man’s black Hyundai Genesis veered off North Tryon Street, crossing a large parking lot and slamming into a building. According to witnesses, the car was traveling between 50 and 55 mph before it crashed into a door on the side of the vacant building.
