Missing Rock Hill Teens May Have Crashed on Way to Beach

The search for two missing teens is heating up, as the Fairfield County Chief Deputy has announced that information gathered through the investigation leads the police to believe the missing teens crashed their vehicle while on their way to Myrtle Beach last weekend.

Jake Ziegler and friend Ray Pierce went missing Saturday while on the way to Myrtle Beach. Both teens are 18 years of age.

Jake’s mother believes that her son is still alive and fighting to stay that way. She believes that her son  “is in a ditch off to the side of the road at a bend. It’s got some heavy brush covering, you’re gonna have to look down there. But if anybody could please-my son doesn’t have much longer if he’s alive. I believe he is.”

The Deputy believes if the boys did crash anywhere, it would have happened around mile marker 48. Apparently, one of the boy’s cell phone is ” pinging” along I-77 between exits 45 and 48. The last communication with the boys was at 2:30 a.m. early Saturday morning, when Ziegler sent a text message that ” pinged” off of a Rock Hill cell phone tower.

Accordingly, the boys reportedly left for the beach after a party in Sherrills Ford, N.c., early Saturday morning.

Strangely, a Belk store clerk told the police that she had sold the missing teens clothing. The police are going to watch the surveillance videos to attempt to verify the clerk’s story.

According to WMBF, the two boys were driving a 2006 Green Pontiac G-6. The license plate reads BDD-8844. The parents are currently offering a $5,000 reward for anyone who has any information leading to the whereabouts of the teens.

The Catawba County Police are requesting that you contact them at (828)-465-8301 if you have any information regarding the boys.

SC Police are Looking for Pedestrian “Hit-and-Run” Killer

Last weekend was grim for one Hilton Head pedestrian, when a driver struck the victim while driving at a fairly high-speed. According to the police report, the accident occurred around 9:30 p.m., when the 42-year-old victim was walking apparently in the middle of the road when he was hit.

It was a Sunday evening, and the victim was enjoying a nice evening stroll in the Okatie community, right off of Hilton Head Island.

The victim was immediately taken to memorial University Medical Center in Savannah, Georgia. Unfortunately, the man lost his life an hour and a half later, at 11:00 p.m.

Currently, police are investigating the death and looking diligently for the “hit-and-run” killer.

Pedestrians are involved in accidents all the time for numerous reasons. Sometimes, both the pedestrian and the driver can be to blame. If the pedestrian is in the middle of the road with dark clothing, and the driver truly did not see him, he may not be the one to blame. What if the pedestrian was intoxicated and ran in front of the car? However, what if the driver were the intoxicated one and the pedestrian was on the walking path beside the road?

No matter who is to blame, a “hit-and-run” is never acceptable behavior. To harm a person and then flee the scene is a serious criminal matter. If you, or a loved one has been injured in any sort of pedestrian or “hit-and-run” accidents, please contact the law offices of Reeves, Aiken, and Hightower at 704-499-9000 or 877-374-5999 toll free. Driving at night presents an entirely new set of hazards of which many drivers may not be aware.  The mere fact that it’s dark becomes significant since an alarming ninety percent of a driver’s reaction depends on vision, which is severely limited at night.  After sundown, depth perception, peripheral vision, and color recognition are all compromised.  Taking certain precautions, however, could make a difference for you and your loved ones.  If you are driving at night, be sure that your car is prepared for driving.  Double check all of your lights for proper working order and aim.  Never drink and drive  Avoid smoking while driving.  Reduce your speed and increase your following distances.  If you find yourself fatigued, make frequent stops for light snacks and/or exercise.

A 44-year old Rock Hill resident was killed while working at Marlboro High School in Bennettsville, NC.

Sadly, the man was a electriction, and lost his life when he was electrocuted when doing some regulatory mainteneice on the generators. It is unclear exaclty when the man was killed becuase he was not founf until Wednesday moring; leaving the possibility that he may have been electrocuted Tuesday night and stayed in the electrical room until morning.

The body was found by a fellow employee who enetered the electrical room to get some supplies. The man was working alone at the time of the accident, where it was reported that he was called to the the highschool to fix the generators.

The victim’s body has been sent to the Medical Univeristy og South carolina, whre an autopsy will be preformed and will provide more answers by Thursday afternoon.

When working with electrical work, employees must be extra cautious not to harm themselves. One should never participate or attempt a job that they have not been properly been trained in. Although it may seem easier to “fix it yourself,” when you are dealing with dangerous or hazerdous chemicals or items, it is always safer to call a “professional.” However, as seen in the above case, even professionals can be fatilly harmed by their trade.
