Authorities believe speed to be the cause of a fatal accident in Mint Hill Friday night.
Police were dispatched to Lawyers Road and Truelight Church Road in reference to a hit and run causing property damage.
Once authorities arrived on the scene of the crash they found a 25-year-old Concord man dead after he had crashed his 2001 Chevrolet Truck.
The man had crashed into a mailbox and overturned his truck before finally coming to a rest on all four wheels.
It is still unknown whether alcohol was a factor in the crash.

A North Carolina child is dead after being involved in an accident with a 15-year-old driver who fled from police, causing his car to run off the road and strike a tree.
According to authorities, an officer noticed the vehicle speeding while heading sound on U.S. Highway 52 on Saturday morning around 11:55 p.m.
The 9-year-old that was sitting in the passenger seat of the car was pronounced dead on the scene. The 15-year-old was treated and released at a nearby hospital.
Police are continuing their investigation into the chase and the crash.

Several youths suffered potentially serious injuries after being involved in a southeast Charlotte wreck Thursday morning.
The crash took place around 7:15 a.m. and involved a young woman and two young men from Myers Park High School at the intersection of North Sharon Amity and Castleton Roads in the Cotswald neighborhood.
Charlotte Mecklenburg Police had to free one motorist who was trapped in a vehicle during the wreck.
One victim was transported to Carolinas Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. A second victim suffered less serious injuries.
Crews worked to clear the scene for nearly two hours, re-opening Sharon Amity around 9:30 a.m.
The cause of the wreck is still unclear.

A Myers Park High School student is dead after tragically being hit and killed while riding his bike to school Tuesday morning.
According to Charlotte Mecklenburg Police, the 14-year-old freshman was riding on the sidewalk when he lost control from swerving to avoid trashcans.
He was struck just before 7 a.m. on his morning ride to school by a US Foods Truck in the 2100 block of Sharon Lane near Providence road.
The young man was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident and died on the scene.
Friends and family visited the scene of the crash, leaving flowers and notes.
No charges are being filed against the truck driver.

Three Charlotte Mecklenburg Police are recovering from injuries after two accidents occurred in the same location involving drunk drivers Saturday night.
In the first accident, two officers were injured around 11:30 p.m. while investigating an accident on Independence Boulevard at Eastway Drive when a man hit a patrol car, and then crashed into a second patrol car. Both patrol cars had lights flashing.
At the time the cars were struck, the officers were standing in the road and were hit by one of the patrol cars.
Both officers were transported to Carolinas Medical Center with serious leg injuries. One of the officers was released Sunday, while the other was stable that evening.
The man who struck the officers was charged with DWI, felony serious injury by vehicle, open container, and reckless driving, among other charges.
As more officers came to investigate the scene, around 2:30 a.m. another drunk driver hit a CMPD patrol car and a second car, both of which also had lights flashing.
An officer sitting in one of the patrol cars was knocked unconscious upon impact. An officer in the second car was uninjured.
Police arrested the second offender and charged him with DWI and felony serious injury by vehicle.
The officer that was knocked unconscious was kept at CMC Sunday afternoon for observation and was in stable condition by that evening.

A young man is dead after the SUV he was driving crashed into a tree in a south Charlotte neighborhood Tuesday morning.
It happened around 11:20 a.m. off Lindstrom Drive near Carmel Road just south of Quail Hollow Country Club.
The 20-year-old was driving a white 2000 Toyota 4 Runner when he crashed into a tree near an intersection.
The man was pronounced dead on the scene.
He was apparently a crew member on the popular show ‘Homeland,’ as much of the series was filmed in the Charlotte area this past year.
According to investigators, excessive speed may have contributed to the crash; moreover, police say he was not wearing a seat belt.
