A 64-year-old Charlotte resident was killed last weekend near U.N.C.C. after his car flipped several times, fatally injuring the man.
The North Carolina Department of Transportation has reported that this accident was caused by a multitude of factors; mainly alcohol and reckless driving though.
The police reports state that judging by the skid marks, the car driven by the now deceased driver, was travelling almost 90 m.p.h. on W.T Harris Boulevard around 3:30 a.m. Many may not know, but the posted speed limit on most of W.T Harris is only 45 m.p.h., as it is not a highway per se.
The speed of the vehicle, combined with the impact of the bank the driver collided into, propelled the car almost a whopping 150 feet from the point of take off. The car then proceeded to flip three times before landing on its hood.
The driver was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident, and was thrown from the vehicle onto the pavement.
The county coroner reports that the man died from crash-related injuries, yet the exact time of death cannot be deduced. Speed and alcohol were reported factors to this heinous accident.
The passenger who was travelling with the victim was also injured, but has since been released and it is believed that he will make a full recovery.

One person has just been pronounced dead after a serious car accident in South Carolina’s Catawba County.
The accident occurred late Wednesday afternoon and can be attributed to both reckless driving and the downfall of rain on that particular day.
The location was on a rural road, specifically, County Home Road, near Conover. The road was winding, and the weather did not aid in either driver seeing clearly while operating their vehicles.
Sadly, one man driving a sedan was pronounced dead on the scene. The other vehicle involved had two women in it, respectively as the driver and passenger, and both were seriously injured in the accident as well. They were transported the County’s closest medical facility. The passenger is still in “critical condition,” whereas the driver is in “stable” condition.
Details have not yet been released stating whether or not alcohol was a factor that led to the crash, but the investigation team is diligently working to answer that question and others that may shed some new light on the facts.

A 20-ear-old Sumter resident is currently being accused of setting a fire to the home he was living in, that resulted in the death of his grandparents.
Authorities report that the grandchild was arrested this past Sunday, after a vicious car chase through the states of Kentucky and Ohio. Apparently the defendant had recently moved from Kentucky to live with his grandparents just a few weeks prior to the incident. There was a previous report initially filed when the defendant had allegedly attacked his elderly grandmother, yet no subsequent charges were filed.
The grandparents were in negotiations with other family members from Kentucky attempting to have the grandson sent back to that state and out of South Carolina.
Then, on Saturday night, firefighters responded to an emergency call reported a fire in the Sumter area. When the firefighters arrived shortly after, they found the bodies of the boys grandparents inside.
Both the 79-year-old grandmother and the 68-year-old grandfather were pronounced dead on the scene.
The boy is currently being charged with two counts of murder, and one count of arson.
No other details are currently available at this time.
