A tractor-trailer lost its bearings and ran off the road and struck a utility pole last Wednesday night, right outside of Rock Hill on S.C. 5.
The collision resulted in knocking out multiple traffic lights, slowing traffic to a complete halt.Specifically, the intersection at S.C. 5 and Herlong Avenue were affected by the outage.
Rock Hill’s Police and Fire Department rushed to the scene of the accident to mitigate the damage. Crews worked non-stop to restore the power to the traffic lights, and clean up the mess the accident created for other drivers.
According to the police reports, the tractor-trailer driver stated that he made a spilt-decision maneuver when he crashed the truck into the utility pole to avoid hitting another vehicle that had just cut him off. He said he thought he would eb better to damage the truck, then to damage a person.
Thus, the driver of the tractor-trailer will not be listed as the “at-fault” driver.
No one suffered any injury due to the accident and no one had to be taken to the hospital.
It took the police about two hours to get the traffic cleared and redirected. Afterwards, traffic was moving smoothly as though nothing had happened.
All too often over-correcting forces drivers into the path of oncoming vehicles or propels them off the other side of the road. Many times, the over-correcting is a result of losing control of the vehicle due to distractions like texting while driving. Drivers should always remain vigilant about safety and pay attention while driving.

A Rock Hill motorcyclist and a van collided last month in Rock Hill, SC.
According to the police reports, the motorcyclist was driving on Anderson Road road on a Thursday afternoon when the weather was a little hazy.
The details are not yet finalized, but the reports state that the motorist some how crashed his motorcycle into the side of a Minivan. The damage to the Minivan and it’s driver was slight, but sadly the same can not be said for the motorcyclist.
The medics reported that the motorcyclist had to be airlifted to Carolinas Medical Center after the collision took place. The driver of the vehicle suffered minor injuries and was taken to Piedmont Medical Center via ambulance.
This is something that is typical of a motorcycle accident. When a person on a motorcycle is involved in an accident with a driver of a vehicle, often time the motorcyclist is the one who suffers the brunt of the injuries. The reason is, because there is not enough to protect someone on a bike like there is with a car. With the injuries being so grave for bikers, the medics typically have them airlifted to the nearest hospital. Sadly, this bill can usually run anywhere from $20,000 to $30,000 depending on the severity and the equipment used.

Two Charlotte residents were seriously injured in a potentially life-threatening accident when a car ran off the road and struck the side of a building this past weekend.
Apparently a silver SUV was driving and at the time of incident, was at the intersection of Ardery Kell and Rea Road, closer to the Ballantyne side of Charlotte.
There are no details to what actually led to the crash, and alcohol has not been ruled out as a factor. All that is known as of now is that the accident occurred around 10:30 a.m.
Emergency crews arrived on scene just a few minutes later to clear the debris and help the victims. In fact, one of the victims had to be cut from their vehicle with what is commonly referred to as ” the jaws of life.”
Medics arrived on scene thereafter, and took all three injured parties to Carolinas Medical Center, in Dilworth for observation and treatment.
As of right now, the two people in the silver SUV are still in the hospital with, as stated above, potentially life-threatening injuries. The third person was treated for less serious injuries, and sent home the next day.
The roadway was cleared about an hour after the accident occurred. Few details are currently available concerning the accident; yet the investigation and details is still underway and shortly to be released.
