Recently, a man was killed in a Chester County, South Carolina car wreck when, officials say, a 1999 GMC Yukon overturned and struck a tree. The accident occurred on SC 97 shortly before 2:00 a.m.
Police report that the passenger was ejected from the car after impact and was declared dead on the scene; he was not wearing a seatbelt. The driver was taken to the hospital. Investigators are still investigating the cause of the accident and charges are pending.

A police sergeant is facing charges after being arrested for drunk driving early Wednesday morning.
According to police, the 49-year-old sergeant was pulled over just before 3 a.m. on West Sunset Drive. He was charged with driving while impaired, driving left of center, having a fictitious or expired registration plate and expired inspection.
The Waxhaw Police Department has not commented on whether any actions are being taken against the sergeant.

Two men were walking home one night from the store in Lancaster, SC at around 11:00 p.m. when they were struck from behind by a car. Both of the men reported that they are thankful to be alive after the incident.
The driver sent both men flying into a nearby ditch where they were too injured to get up and check the license plate. One of the men is hobbling on crutches, while the other man was left unconscious and seriously injured.
The two were rushed to the hospital and Lancaster Police report the hit-and-run driver is still on the loose. The past Friday was a tragedy for two individuals who lost their lives while travelling down Interstate 77 in South Carolina.
The accident occurred early Friday morning, immediately outside of York County near mile marker 32, in Fairfield County. According to the police report, the crash took place when the driver of a 1974 Chevrolet SUV lost control of his vehicle while travelling northbound on the interstate. His car subsequently overturned and wound up in the median.
The SUV was carrying a male driver, and a female passenger, both of whom were ejected from the vehicle at the time of the accident. South Carolina Highway reports that both were pronounced dead at the scene.
The accident is still under current investigation, whereas it will be determined if alcohol and speed were contributing factors in the crash.

Two men were assaulted last weekend at a South Lounge, a club to teenagers, located on the 100 block of South Congress Street in York, SC. The owner of the club is being charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor, transfer of beer/wine for underage person’s consumption and unlawful storage of alcohol according to the police report.
The club is designed for teenagers between the ages of 13 and 17. According to the report, the police department was alerted of the activities by
two 22 year old men who were visiting the club for a birthday party.

Two underage drinking parties in York County, South Carolina were broken up by deputies last week. For the first incident, three females age 12, 13, and 14 were cited with Minor Possession of Beer/Wine and released to their parent’s custody. A man was also charged with Contributing to the Delinquency of Minors. This took place at a home on McConnells Highway in Sharon, SC.
The second party was broken up at the Plaza Hotel in Fort Mill, SC where York County Officers discovered a 21-year-old man with four teens. Cases of beer were littered around the hotel room. He was charged with Transfer of Beer to a Minor and the youths were charged with Possession of Beer/Wine by a Minor.
