Man Arrested in Lancaster, SC on Gun Related Charges

On October 15, Lancaster, SC Police arrested a man in connection with shooting a man in the leg. Police say the victim was taken to Springs Memorial Hospital; he was treated for his injury, and released. 

 The alleged shooter was driving a burgundy Chevrolet Caprice, which the police say was the same car used in the shooting.  The man was taken into custody and charged with attempted murder, possession of a firearm by a person convicted of a crime of violence, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime.  Cocaine was also found in the shooter’s possession, reported police.

Multi-Car Crash in Charlotte Traps Victim In Car

Multiple rescue crews were called to the scene of a multi-car crash on Nations Ford Road in Southwest Charlotte late Tuesday morning.

The crash happened around 11 a.m. on Nations Ford Road between Hebron Street and Arrowood Road.

According to Charlotte Mecklenburg police, the crash also managed to damage nearby property. Crews are working on the scene.  It remains unclear how many people were injured in the crash.

Charlotte Fire Department crews also worked for some time to free at least one victim trapped in a vehicle.

Injured victims are being rushed to area hospitals for treatment.

Winthrop Students Killed and Injured in Tragic Car Accident

Three Winthrop University roommates were involved in a serious car accident this past Sunday that resulted in one fatality, and two serious injuries.

The fatality struck a 21-year- old Winthrop senior, who was majoring in special education. Moreover, she was the treasurer of Winthrop’s Quidditch team, and an intern at Chester High School, beginning her teaching career.

Two other female seniors, both majoring in education branches, were seriously injured in the car accident as well, and immediately taken to Palmetto Health Richland. One victim has already been released from the hospital, while the other is still in the Urgent Care unit, however expected to recover.

According to witnesses, the roommates were on their way back to campus, when the collision occurred around 8:00 p.m. Sunday night, right outside of Kershaw County.

All passengers had their seatbelts on while riding in the 2005 Suzuki. Their vehicle was struck from behind by a 2006 Mercedes SUV, driven by a 18-year-old who also suffered injuries. The impact of the Mercedes SUV striking the Suzuki caused the roommates car to turn over into the median and hit a cable barrier, causing the injury.

Fatal Motorcycle Crash Kills 41-year-old Man

An investigation continues after a fatal motorcycle crash occurred Sunday night in Concord.

According to police, a 41-year-old Harrisburg man was traveling southwest on Roberta Road in Concord when he lost control of his motorcycle and crashed. The motorcycle driver was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

Investigators found that speed was a contributing factor in the crash. However, no other vehicles or persons were involved in the crash.

Charlotte Woman Killed in Fatal DWI Crash

A Charlotte woman has died and a teenager charged after the teen drove his Mustang off the road and into a tree.

According to police, the crash happened Tuesday evening around 11 p.m. near Conway Avenue off of Scaleybark Road.

When emergency personnel arrived on the scene, they found the woman dead and another passenger seriously injured.

Witnesses told police that the 19-year-old driver jumped out of the car window and ran away before the car came to a violent stop.

The teen was driving a 2004 Ford Mustang northwest on Scaleybark Drive when he veered off the road, struck a telephone pole, a came to a halt after rolling into a tree.  A woman passenger was pronounced dead on the scene.  Another passenger suffered non life-threatening injuries and was rushed to an area hospital.

The driver was charged with driving while impaired and reckless driving.  Warrants have also been filed for Felony Hit and Run and Felony Death by Vehicle.

Charlotte Driver Killed in Crash Involving Two Trucks

A Charlotte driver is dead after a crash involving two trucks at a traffic light Tuesday afternoon.

The crash happened at the intersection of Brookshire Boulevard and Grove Road after a man drove his truck into another truck that was stopped at an intersection. According to witnesses, the driver who caused the crash was driving erratically directly before the crash.

When emergency personnel arrived on the scene, the driver of the truck that caused the crash was dead. Luckily, no one else was hurt in the crash.
