Two people are suffering from serious injuries after being hit by a car on Monday night.
Paramedics responded to the scene of the collision around 9 p.m. in the 14600 block of Statesville Road.
The two individuals were walking across the road when they were struck by the vehicle. Both were immediately rushed to Carolinas Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

Charlotte Mecklenburg Police are reaching out to the public for help as they try to find a hit-and-run driver who injured a motorcyclist last Sunday.
According to police, the 37-year-old biker was seriously injured after he swerved to avoid hitting a green, four-door Mercedes Benz sedan on South Tryon Road near Sandy Porter Road.
The motorcyclist was rushed to Carolinas Medical Center.

Charlotte drivers experienced big delays on Interstate 85 after a multi-car crash during rush hour near uptown Charlotte Thursday evening.
All lanes on I-85 near exit 45 in the University area were shut down after two red sedans and a silver sedan collided around 5:30 p.m.
At least two people had to be extricated from their cars after the crash. They were both transported to area hospitals with life-threatening injuries, according to Medic.
Backups resulting from the crash stretched for about six miles all the way to Interstate 77. All northbound lanes were reopened after crews cleared the scene around 8 p.m.

A local high school teacher was killed in tragic car accident Thursday involving a dump truck.
The crash happened in Cabbarus County on Highway NC 200 at around 4:30 p.m. while the man was on his way home from work at Rocky River High School in Mint Hill.
The crash involved the teacher’s passenger vehicle and a dump truck.

A Transportation Department employee died after his dump truck was rear-ended by another dump truck on N.C. 12 Saturday.
According to a North Carolina Highway Patrol Trooper, a dump truck being driven by a 36-year-old man hit another dump truck from behind. A 45-year-old man was driving the second truck, which caught on fire, killing the driver inside.
The driver of the first truck was injured and taken to an area hospital. The men were removing sand from the highway that resulted after Hurricane Sandy.
The highway had just reopened Saturday. It was closed for several hours Sunday before the Department of Transportation re-opened it.
