Crash Involving Armored Truck in Davidson

A portion of U.S. 52 North is closed after an motor-vehicle accident involving an armored truck Monday night.

Davidson County Emergency Crews received a call about the accident at around 9:15 p.m.

At least two people were involved in the crash, and details on the amount of vehicles are still forthcoming. EMS transported one person to an area hospital.

Crews had to close U.S. 52 North between MM 92 and 97.

SUV and CATS bus Collide in Charlotte

Two people are injured after an accident involving a SUV and a CATS bus happened on Clanton Road Thursday morning.

The crash occurred around 7:30 a.m. on Clanton Road near Interstate 77 after a SUV and a CATS bus collided.

Emergency crews had to block a portion of the intersection while working the scene. According to MEDIC,  two people were injured in the accident.  One person suffered life-threatening injuries, while the other suffered non-life threatening injuries.

The bus had two passengers at the time of the wreck, but they were not injured.

Overturned Tractor-Trailer Causes Major Delays in Charlotte

Charlotte drivers experienced delays Wednesday morning after a tractor-trailer overturned on a ramp on Interstate 85 in west Charlotte.

According to Troopers from North Carolina Highway Patrol, the tractor-trailer flipped on a I-85 ramp on Interstate 485 early Wednesday morning.

The accident happened after the load the truck was hauling shifted and caused the trailer to flip.  Details on injuries suffered due to the crash are still forthcoming.

The ramp was closed briefly to clear the scene, but was reopened around 9 a.m.

Charlotte Police Crack Down on Drunk Drivers Over the Weekend

In the continuing effort to make our roads safer, Police set up DWI checking stations in Mecklenburg County over the weekend, resulting in over 140 charges filed.

Charlotte Mecklenburg Police were stationed in the 8300 block of Nations Ford Road from 11 p.m. to 3 a.m.  There, a total of 82 charges were filed, including five DWIs, 14 driving while license revoked, four no insurance, one no seat belt, and one open container.

Saturday, CMPD, UNCCPD and Pineville Police Department collaborated in the DWI checking station in the 2200 block of Central Avenue.  Officials filed another 60 charges during the four-hour campaign.

Out of the charges filed on Saturday, 10 were DWIs, 15 driving while license revoked, two open container, one possession of cocaine with intent to deliver/sell, two carry of concealed weapon and one possession of marijuana.

Speeding Driver Crashes Into Charlotte Home

A female driver was injured in an accident after driving her car into a Charlotte home Thursday morning.

The crash happened around 3:30 a.m. after the speeding woman driver lost control of her car and hit a house on Forest Pond Drive.

Those who were inside of the house were startled but were not injured. The home did not suffer any noticeable damage due to the crash.

The woman driver suffered injuries, but details have not yet been revealed.

According to police, the woman is not facing any charges at this time.

Davidson Mother Killed in Fatal Head-On Collision

A Davidson woman has died after being involved in a head-on collision on N.C. Highway 150 South in Tyro Tuesday afternoon.

The crash happened at around 3:00 p.m. when a Ford Mustang being driven by a 21-year-old man struck her.  The man was driving his car north on N.C. 150 and crossed the centerline, striking the woman’s vehicle head-on.

According to reports, the woman was on her way to pick up medicine for her 8-year-old daughter who was suffering from a sore throat.  Riding with the woman in her Chevrolet Cavalier was her two children, ages 9 and 8, and another child, age 9.

The woman, along with all three, passenger children, was transported to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.

The woman, a 28-year-old student at Davidson County Community College, was pronounced dead Wednesday afternoon at WFBMC.

The children have since been treated and released.
