Three people suffered potentially life-threatening injuries after a traffic collision on North Tryon Street in Charlotte Saturday night.
The victims were transported to Carolinas Medical Center Main around 7 p.m. from the 9700 block of North Tryon where the wreck was located.
Eighteen firefighters responded to the crash, which caused significant traffic delays.
Authorities are still looking into the cause of the crash.

A single vehicle wreck has left one person dead and another injured in northwest Charlotte Monday morning.
According to Charlotte Mecklenburg Police, the crash happped around 3 a.m. on Bellhaven Boulevard near Ravenswood Road when they lost control of their car and slammed into a utility pole, coming to a halt by crashing into an embankment.
The car caught fire after hitting the embankment.
The male passenger was transported by MEDIC to Carolinas Medical Center Main with non-life threatening injuries.
During the incident, two police officers also suffered minor injuries.
Alcohol and speed were a factor in the case.

A serious crash brought traffic to a halt on Interstate 485 during rush hour Friday evening.
The accident happened on the innerloop of I-485 around 5:40 p.m. near the South Boulevard intersection. Crews closed one of two lanes to work the scene.
One person was transported to a nearby hospital with potentially life-threatening injuries, according to MEDIC.
Backups stretched for at least four miles past Johnston Road on the innerloop.
Crews were able to clear the scene and reopen the highway around 7:30 p.m.

Charlotte Mecklenburg Police officers handed 58 citations out Thursday night during a seatbelt operation in northeast Charlotte.
The initiative was set up on the Plaza at Milton Road from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m.
10 officers manned the station as 29 road users were cited for not wearing a seatbelt, six for having improper license plate tags, seven for not having a proper driver’s license and four for driving with a revoked license.
Recent studies reveal that in 2010, the use of seat belts in passenger vehicles saved an estimated 12,546 lives. A Charlotte woman is hospitalized after being shot in an apparent road rage shooting in north Charlotte Friday night.
According to police, five woman in a Cadillac Escalade were arguing with people in another vehicle around 11:30 p.m. on Gemway Drive, off Sunset road.
A 40-year-old woman passenger in the Escalade says she and her co-workers were heading to a friend’s home after a Christmas dinner at the senior citizen’s center where they work. The woman does not remember any words that were exchanged before shots were fired.
One shot hit a 44-year-old woman who was driving the Escalade, causing her to lose control of the SUV and crash, injuring the four women in the car. The driver was still hospitalized as of Saturday night, but the others had been treated and released.
Police continue the search for the other vehicle.

A Charlotte man is facing charges after being involved in a two-vehicle crash that claimed the life of a young mother.
The accident happened around 8 p.m. when the 48-year-old driver crashed into the now deceased woman’s pickup truck at the intersection of Northam Road and Senad Road in Rockingham. There are indications that the accident was caused by the man’s failure to stop at a stop sign.
At the time of the crash, the 27-year-old woman was driving her Ford pickup containing her 32-year-old friend and her three young children. The woman passenger and the children were transported to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, and later released.
According to North Carolina Highway Patrol, the Ford driven by the woman was impacted on the front driver’s side, ejecting her from the vehicle as it landed on it’s side. The man’s truck then hit a road sign and tombstone before veering into the Northam Road Cemetery.
The charges against the male driver can carry a maximum penalty of 150 days in jail. Troopers state that there are no indications suggesting alcohol or drugs were involved in the accident.
