Officials say that the man driving the pick-up slowed down to make a left hand turn while the Jeep that was behind him was unable to stop, crashing into the left side of the man’s truck.
The 35-year-old driver of the Jeep and his 31-year-old passenger were both ejected from the vehicle upon impact. Their conditions are currently unknown.
Another man, 35, sitting in the back seat of the Jeep did not survive the crash. Unlike the others riding in the jeep, he was not ejected from the vehicle. He has recently been identified by the Newberry County Coroner. According to troopers he was not wearing a seatbelt.
The driver of the pick-up truck that was struck is charged with DUI. Other charges are expected to follow, according to Highway Patrol.

A SC Councilman has been named in a wrongful death lawsuit surrounding a 201o ca accident that killed a 70-year-old woman.
The woman driver was struck by four vehicles on November 4, 2010. The driver of the first car that collided with the woman’s vehicle has pleaded guilty for driving under the influence. The Councilman’s vehicle was the second car to hit; however, he argues that he tried to swerve and is not responsible for the woman’s death. This argument is further echoed by the Councilman’s attorney.
According to the Coroner, it was impossible to determine which of the four vehicles were responsible for the woman’s fatal injuries.
The Councilman is being sued for over $5 million.

Two weeks ago in the city of Rock Hill, an 84-year-old man was riding in the back seat of a car driven by his son, when the car collided with another, causing an accident. Strangely enough, it was not the impact of the collision that was fatal to the elderly gentleman, but rather it was the shock.
Apparently, the elderly man was taken to the hospital after the accident with no major injury to his person. However, shortly after his arrival, he had a heart attack and passed away at the hospital.
The circumstances surrounding the car accident are as follows: the elderly man and his son were driving on Rock Hill Road around 3:30 p.m., when a car driven by a Florida resident pulled out of a restaurant and into the pathway of the victim and his son, striking their vehicle.
The accident is currently still being investigated, and no charges have been filed yet.
